Originally built in 1915, Waldyn is a restored Edwardian-era seaside estate on Boston’s historic North Shore. In the late 20th century, the house and landscape suffered from neglect and unsympathetic alterations. Through a multi-year effort, we redesigned deteriorated features incompatible with the original landscape design and introduced new outdoor amenities. The project demonstrates that by carefully balancing tradition and modernity, landscape architects can create appealing outdoor spaces that honor historic heritage while meeting contemporary needs.
