The Rhode Island Chapter of the American Society of Landscape Architects (RIASLA) is committed to promoting excellence in the practice of landscape architecture and raising public awareness of its value and impact.
RIASLA’s Executive Committee invites landscape architects and affiliated professionals to submit projects that exemplify leadership, innovation, and excellence in the stewardship, planning, and design of our natural and cultural environments.
Awarded projects will receive recognition in the following categories:
Presidential Award of Excellence – May be awarded (if merited) to one project across all categories, by unanimous Jury vote, for exceptional contributions advancing the profession.
Honor Award – Given to a select number of projects demonstrating superior professional achievement.
Merit Award – Recognizes outstanding professional accomplishment; multiple awards may be given.
Special Recognition Award – May be presented to a single project with unique distinction not captured in other categories.
Resilience and Innovation Award – May be presented to a single project showing distinction in resiliency, biodiversity, climate change adaptation, environmental justice, or other related environmental and social topic.
ELIGIBILITY
The Professional Design Awards Program is open to all landscape architects registered to practice in Rhode Island, Projects located within Rhode Island, professionals in public or private practice of landscape architecture who reside in Rhode Island, affiliated professionals, faculty currently teaching at accredited Rhode Island landscape architecture programs, and students currently enrolled in an accredited Rhode Island landscape architecture curriculum submitting works associated with their academic pursuits. Once the project receives an award, it is no longer eligible for future RIASLA Professional Award Programs.

CATEGORY II - SMALL SCALE BUILT PROJECTS
CATEGORY III - PAPER PROJECTS
CATEGORY IV - PLANNING AND ANALYSIS
CATEGORY V - COMMUNICATIONS
CATEGORY VI - RESEARCH
THE JURY
A distinguished panel of jurors from the Oklahoma Chapter of the American Society of Landscape Architects has been assembled to judge the entries. The Jury will be conducted by blind review; materials submitted must not bear names, seals, or pictures of the submitting professional(s).
ENTRY FEES
$200 for Full ASLA Members
$300 for Non-Members
$10 for ASLA Student Members
$25 for Non-Member Students
The final date for all submissions is 11:59pm EST, October 5, 2025.
Winners will be recognized at the 2025 Holiday Party and Awards Banquet: Date and location TBD.
