The Alcântara Valley in Lisbon presents a complex tapestry of challenges and opportunities shaped by its diverse topography, hydrological systems, and urban fabric. Encompassing steep slopes, ridges, gentle inclines, and enclosed lowlands, this valley embodies a microcosm of pressing urban issues and needs sustainable, site-specific design interventions.
This topography design calls for targeted approaches in water management, housing design, and infrastructure connectivity to address flooding, erosion, isolation, and microclimate variations across the valley.
